Lagos spends N22bn on infrastructure in one year

Lagos State government has spent over N22 billion to provide infrastructure in the last one year, the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Central Business District, Mr. Oyinlomo Danmole, has said.

He said this on Tuesday at a news conference to commemorate one year in office of Governor Babatunde Fashola. According to him, the infrastructure became necessary now to revitalize and revive the economy of the Lagos Island Business District for the proposed mega city agenda of the state government.

Danmole stated that most of the infrastructure in the state had deteriorated forcing thousands of businesses to relocate from the district while the value of property fell abysmally.

He said, “This development has culminated into the area becoming notorious for its traffic menace, rowdiness, petty crime and refuse menace. That is why the state government has to come with a comprehensive plan to address the decline and restore the glory of the area.
