Yar'adua retires Auditor-General of the Federation

Kolawole Daniel, Abuja - 21.05.2009

PRESIDENT Umaru Yar’Adua has ordered the Auditor-General of the Federation, Mr. Robert Ejenavi, to proceed on retirement immediately.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Olusegun Adeniyi, noted that the President’s directive came as a result of Mr. Ejenavi’s attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60 years on Monday.

The statement read: “President Yar’Adua further directed that the next most senior officer in the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, should act as Auditor-General until the process of appointing a substantive Auditor-General is completed.

“The process which ends with confirmation of the nominee by the Senate, has already been initiated by the Federal Civil Service Commission with the advertisement of the position in national newspapers on May 12, 2009.

“It is expected to be completed within three months”.
