35 petrol ships arrive Lagos ports -PPMC

About 35 ships loaded with petrol are about berthing at the Lagos ports, the Public Affairs Manager of Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Mr Ralph Ugwu, has said.

Egwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Wednesday in Lagos that the volume of petrol in the ships was about 1.4 billion litres.

“In fact, some of the ships have started berthing. The cargoes are coming to berth one after the other to avoid paying demurrage if all the cargoes berth at the same time

“The content in most of the cargoes is to cushion the effect of fuel scarcity in various states,” he said.

Mr. Ugwu said about 300 trucks loaded with petroleum products left on Tuesday for Abuja while about 700 trucks went to other states.

According to him, the PPMC was doing all to ensure fuel scarcity was addressed urgently.

He said the privately-owned depots, approved by government in Lagos recently, had, on Monday, started distributing petroleum products to various states.
