Turkish Airlines to increase flights to Nigeria

Turkish Airlines, which recently became a member of the Star Alliance team, has concluded plans to increase its frequencies on the Lagos-Istanbul route from three to four at the end of the summer season.

The Managing Director, Mr. Abdallah Pinar, said the airline, which recently increased the frequencies from two to three for the summer season, will be increasing them to four to meet the rising traffic on the route.

He said the airline was able to airlift over 11,000 passengers to and from Lagos in the first quarter of 2008. He added that “we are very encouraged by the patronage of Nigerians and will continue to do our best to serve them and take them to the over 960 destinations that we can operate to being a member of the Star Alliance team.”

Pinar said “in appreciation of the loyalty of our Nigerian passengers we have introduced one of the most affordable fares to Europe, Middle East and Asia. No other airline can beat it.”

He said the airline would continue to maintain a “No Transit Visa” status for passengers who would not be spending more than 24 hours transit time, as long as they had their visas to their destinations, adding that the airline would arrange hotel accommodation for passengers on transit but with visa into Turkey.
