Court grants Nnamani’s account director bail

Reprieve has come the way of a former aide to ex-governor Chimanroke Nnamani, Mr. Sunday Anyaogu, who was remanded on Tuesday for allegedly tampering with confiscated assets of his former boss as a Federal High Court, Lagos granted him bail on Thursday.

Mr. Anyaogu, who was until recently, Account- Drector in one of the companies allegedly owned by former Enugu State governor, Mr. Chimaroke Nnamani, was arraigned on Tuesday on a one-count charge before Justice Tijani Abubakar.

In the charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he was accused of dissipating some assets of a company named Rainbownet, which is a property which formed part of Nnamani's assets temporarily forfeited to the Nigerian government due to his on-going trial for alleged criminal offences.

Mr. Anyaogu was also being tried with Nnamani and some former officials of Enugu state before the same court over allegation of money laundering and diversion of public funds.

On his arraignment on Tuesday, Anyaogu pleaded not guilty , following which the court ordered his remand in custody. He latter filed a bail application praying the court to grant him bail pending the hearing and determination of the case.
