Obasanjo’s 8-year rule, a disaster - Adegbite

SECRETARY General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) , Dr. Lateef Adegbite, on Wednesday described the eight years of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration as a disaster and one that was not favourable to Nigerians.

Alhaji Adegbite said that the eight years of the former president was not for the nation’s masses, but for a few elite who were his partners.

The NSCIA scribe, speaking at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, during a special prayer for the monarch, advised President Umaru Yar’Adua to ignore “all Obasanjo’s anti-masses policies.”

Alhaji Adegbite also sent a word through the Minister of Mines and Steel, Alhaji Sarafadeen Ishola, to President Yar’Adua, to make his own policies ones that would be favourable to the masses.

“Minister, please take this message to the President, and just like I told him, he must do things that would be beneficial to the masses of this nation.

“The eight-year rule of Obasanjo was a disaster. It was unfavourable to the masses and the masses did not benefit anything. It was eight years of failure. Only a few elite benefitted.

“Please tell President Yar’Adua that although there is still a question mark on his election, he is doing well, but he can still do more. We are happy with him,” he said.

In the same vein, Alhaji Ishola called for the support of Nigerians towards the economic policy of the Yar’Adua’s administration, that it would bring succour to the masses.
