Eid-el-Kabir celebration... - Adedibu visits Akala, debunks rumour

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, on Wednesday paid a Sallah visit to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, where he also debunked a rumour of his strained relationship with the governor.

He described the governor as God-fearing, who would continue to enjoy God’s support and that of the people.

Chief Adedibu, who visited the Govenment House after the Eid prayers at the Agodi prayer ground with other Muslim faithful, including his son, Senator Kamourudeen Adedibu, and his aides and supporters, was received by the governor and other top government functionaries.

“There was never a time I had any misunderstanding with our governor because he has continued to be respectful to elders in the state and the party,” he said.

According to Adedibu, “Governor Akala is one of the very few leaders who do not discriminate against anybody because he believes that he is responsible to all, and this is seen by the number of Muslims he has appointed into government and as his personal aides.”

In his response, Governor Akala pledged that his administration would continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

He also charged the newly-elected local government chairmen in the state to use their offices for the benefit and well-being of the masses who voted them into office.

On the rumour that all was not well between him and Chief Adedibu, Governor Akala said “those who have been peddling the rumour that my relationship with our Baba is not cordial are mere mischief makers and enemies of progress. Go and tell them that they have all failed and they will continue to fail.”

Chief Adedibu called on all government functionaries to give their support for the Akala administration for a successful tenure.

“It was his performance since assumption of office as the state governor that made the success of the party in the just-concluded local government elections possible.”
