Ondo sets up panel on Ugbo, Ugbonla crisis

As part of efforts to endn the lingering communal strife between Ugbo and Ugbonla communities in the coastal area of Ondo State, Governor Olusegun Agagu yesterday inaugurated a seven-member administrative panel of inquiry to look into the matter.

Headed by retired Justice Elijah Komolafe, the panel which comprises director of the SSS in the state, state police commissioner and others was empowered to arrest any interested party that refused to honour its invitation with a view to unravelling the circumstances behind the crisis and the ways out.

The panel, which has 30 days to submit its report, according to the governor, is charged with the responsibility of looking into the immediate and remote causes of the crisis; identifying the individual(s) involved and the roles played by such individual(s); and make recommendation(s) to the state government on ways of restoring permanent peace to the communities and the local government area generally.

Agagu, appealed to all parties to the crisis and all stakeholders to give maximum cooperation to the panel members to enable them to come up with quality recommendations that would usher in permanent peace in the area.
