Oyo workers hold thanksgiving service on Akala’s victory

Civil servernts, politicians and top government functionaries on Tuesday converged on the Oyo State governor’s office for an interdenominational thanksgiving service on the victory of the governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, at the election petition tribunal on Monday.

Speaking at the programme, the Head of Service, Dr. Ebenezer Okebukola, said civil servants in the state would now enjoy life insurance facilites as part of dividends of their hardwork.

He said families of civil servants, who died in active service, were presently being paid N60,000, stressing that Governor Alao-Akala had expressed displeasure with the meagre allowance being paid those who lost their lives while in the service of the state.

He said the governor had also directed that an insurance scheme, which would be in line with the prevailing economic realities, should be fashioned out for deceased civil servants.

He charged workers in the state to reciprocate the gesture of the government by re-doubling efforts at boosting the revenue generation of the state.

Governor Alao-Akala, in his remark, pledged the commitment of his administration to make life more meaningful to the down-trodden through the provision of social amenities to all nooks and crannies of the state.

He called on religious leaders to continue to pray for the success of his administration, urging all his political opponents to join hands with him in moving the state forward.
