Rep cries to IGP over ejection threat

A member of the House of Repre sentatives, Honourable Eseme Eyiboh, has cried to the Inspector- General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mike Okiro, to rescue him from the hands of one Senator Hassan Muhammed Gusau, who he accused of wanting to dispossess him of his residence located on Yamoye Close, Area 11, Abuja.

Honourable Eyiboh, who is currently living in the said property following the monitisation of the Apo Legislative Quarters by the last regime headed by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Alhaji Gusau, over the real ownership of the property. The matter with Suit No.

CV/1247/O7 is currently before the Federal High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja. The lawmaker, in a petition he wrote the IGP copy of which in possession of the Nigerian Tribune, complained that Alhaji Gusau invaded the said property on the February 13, 2008, in company of over 15 armed policemen from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, with a view to forcefully taken over his property from him.

He also told Mr. Mike Okiro that the armed policemen were accompanied by a group of unidentified young men and bailiff from Sharia Court of Appeal in Gwagwalada. “The invading bailiff and the police officers presented a document written in Hausa Language which they alleged was a writ of possession of the property issued by the Upper Sharia Court of Jigawa State”, he said.

He also said the Sharia court had no jurisdiction over landed property and urged the Inspector- General of Police to wade into the matter and restrain the commissioner of police in the FCT from assisting Alhaji Gusau from using the back door to eject him from the house “when a case between us is still pending at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.”

The lawmaker also urged the IGP to investigate the source and circumstances of the writ of possession obtained by Alhaji Gusau to establish whether it was properly and legally obtained in view of the pending high court matter between the duo.
