Private security guards deny aiding robbers

PRIVATE Guard Companies (PGC) in Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja said that they are not informants to armed robbers as being alleged in some quarters. PGC in a release signed by Chief Tony Egbu and Colonel Patrick Onah (rtd), said the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was regulating, supervising and monitoring their activities.

Chief Egbu, who is the Managing Director of Oyi Security Services Limited and Colonel Onah, the Managing Director of Elegance Security Systems Limited, said with the coming on board of the NSCDC, the PGC had been restructured, reactivated, professionalised and repositioned.

They said quacks had been sent out of the industry as a result of the on-going sensitisation and sanitisation programme it embarked upon.

“However, we will appreciate it if any person or group of persons, who feel the Civil Defence Corps has not done much or has any contrary opinion to such, would come out openly instead of castigating the organisation by challenging government policy.

“We, practitioners in the industry will not condone or take likely any statement made by any disgruntled elements in the name of castigating PGC and the NSCDC,” the group said.
