Come to Ripples Nite Club, Osogbo and lose your head

Ripples Nite Club, OsogboOSOGBO, the Osun State capital is gradually warming up to taking a place among the socially compliant states in Nigeria.

Clubbing was in Osogbo last week and discovered a new haven that has been filling the vacuum of entertainment in the state of the living spring.

Tucked at the outskirt of the state capital is Ripples Nite Club, a club that actually pioneered nite life in Osogbo.

In a chat with the proprietor of the club, Mr. Kola Adeniji popularly known as Niji Lucas he said the club was established five years ago to fill the vacuum in night life in the state. In his words “I tried to look around, I looked at the environment and see what the state was lacking then.

“I discovered there was no eatery in the town and I started with an eatery before it later snowballed into a nite club and now a well furnished 15 bedroom hotel with a big hall for social event has been added to it,” he said. “By the time I started, I was the only one in the business. I like treading where others dread and where there’s no road. I don’t look back” said Lucas.

Ripples Nite Club is seemingly the most lively nite club in Osogbo. It has a neat dancing floor and a well stocked bar with different types of local and imported drink. Another advantage it has over other clubs in the town is that it has accommodation facility and good security network.

So, when next you visit Osogbo, make sure you visit Ripples but be careful so that you don’t lose your head.

Malta Guinness Street Dance Final:Winners from Africa storm Lagos for final

The winners of the various national finals of the Malta Guinness Street Dance competitions which took place in Ghana, Tanzania and Kenya have arrived in Nigeria to lock horns with Soul Quest, their Nigerian counterpart, for the coveted African final of the competition, which comes up in Lagos this month.

Also in Nigeria for the epoch making music festival to be held at the prestigious Ikeja, Lagos based entertainment resort, Planet One are internationally renowned judges namely, Sisco Gomez, dancer/choreographer for Madonna and Kylie Minogue and regarded as one of the brightest stars in street dance, Peter Francis, dancer/choreographer for Sean Paul, kylie Minogue who will perform at the Olympics closing ceremony in Beijing, China and Simon Gibley, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the United Dance Organisation in the United Kingdom.

The National winners from other African countries who have arrived Nigeria for the Pan – African grand finale of the Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa are 2Puff from Ghana, Dashy Crew from Kenya, and The World Champions from Tanzania and they are in a very lively mood to lock horns with our very own Soul Quest who will be representing Nigeria at the pan – African finals.

The atmosphere at the Elomaz Hotels, Maryland , Ikeja Lagos, where all the crews for the African championship were lodged was a beehive of activities as all the dancers have been boasting of their intention to outdo one another with a promise to give their best on the dance floor, come the day of the event. All four crews were given the opportunity of familiarizing themselves with one another as they were led to a general dress rehearsal at the Planet One restaurant, venue of the final event. This is also to give the African finalists the opportunity to feel the stage of the final contest before the grand event.

The event which promises to be full of excitement and fun loaded would be graced by one of Nigeria’s musical rave of the moment P - Square and Wootah, a Ghanaian musician, popularly known amongst his fans as ‘Fire’ and have promised to render tunes which have endeared them to their numerous fans across the continent and beyond.

Nigerian born, and African king of the wheel of steel, Jimmy Jatt, in his usual confident self backed up with rich antecedents has promised the expected crowd of entertainment impresarios and party revelers, including popular thespians, ‘wannabes’ of getting the best from him as always. The event would also be anchored by the fast growing kid on the block of entertainment presentation, MC Deji Falope, who has been doing fantastically well anchoring all the Malta Guinness Street Dance events, since it debuted in March at Jos.

The winner that emerges represent Africa at the United Dance Organisation’s World Street Dance Championship that would come up in the United Kingdom, later this year.
