Lagos SWAN inaugurates electoral committee

Lagos SWAN last Wednesday formally inaugurated the eight-man electoral committee to coordinate the state chapter election in April.

The committee is headed by Tony Nezianya with Humphrey Njoku as secretary.

Other members of the committee are: Gowon Akpodono, Dapo Sotiminu, Gbolahan Dada, Wale Joseph, Dipo Okubanjo and Blessing Nwosu.

The committee was appointed during the state congress held on Friday, February 29, 2008.

Chairman of Lagos SWAN, Emeka Enechi, charged the committee to organise a hitch-free election. Nezianya, chairman of the electoral committee in response, pledged the committee's resolve to organise a credible election.

Meanwhile, the ban on electioneering activities/campaign has been lifted. According to the chairman of the electoral committee, interested members for the post of Chairman,Vice Chairman, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General,Treasurer and Financial Secretary are expected to file in their applications soonest, adding that candidates were free to canvass, solicit, campaign, among others, for votes.

He, however, noted that the post of Publicity Secretary, Welfare Officer and Internal Auditor have been scrapped.
