Lagos inaugurates c’tee on athletics

Determined to re-establish itself as the bedrock of talent pool for the country in tracks and field sports, the Lagos State government last week inaugurated a nine-man committee for the resuscitation of athletics in the state.
The state Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji- Adele during the inauguration held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, restated Governor Babatunde Fashola's commitment to the programme, adding that the governor was of the belief that "if athletics, a very popular global sport is developed in the state, it will, translate to national glory as talents groomed from Lagos will compete for honours in the country's colours at international levels".
The committee is headed by former president of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Engr. Oluyomi Adeyemi-Wilson. Other members of the committee are Prof. Seun Omotayo, Sunday Bada, Yusuf Ali, Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo (MON), Gboyega Okegbenro, Prof. Olakitan De-Souza, Tajudeen Oladeji and Lukman Ologunro.
