Eagles ‘ll rise again - Siasia

18.02.2008

FORMER Super Eagles striker, Samson Siasia has taken a philosophical angle to the team’s poor run at the recent Nations Cup, and declared that Nigeria could bounce back to reckoning in world football.

Siasia, in an interview with brilafm.net stated that this would be possible only if the officials immediately returned to the drawing board to correct lapses that were evident in the disappointing Ghana 2008 outing.

“There’s no point in crying continuously over what happened in Ghana. It’s one of those things in football, and we can only be wise by trying to pick it up from there and plan for the future.

“The World Cup qualifiers are just around the corner and it would make good sense to start planning for those crucial matches than to keep talking about the Nations Cup,” Siasia said.

He spoke further about the World Cup qualifiers and noted that, although the Eagles have been placed in a relatively easy group in the World Cup qualifiers with the likes of South Africa, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea, all the matches should be taken serious, with only committed players invited.
