Idris begins re-election campaign

Former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, at the weekend began his re-election campaign with the call on the people of the state to ensure his victory in the election scheduled for March 29.

Alhaji Idris said everything in life came from God and as such accepted the verdict of the Appeal Court as destined by God, stressing that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would continue to focus on the dividends of democracy to the people.

He decried the rumour of his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying he was at home that day receiving visitors.

All the speakers at the occasion called on the people to have faith in the PDP, saying the party was ready to repeat the victory it had in the election of April 14 2007.

Honourable Dino Melaye, Moses Okino and Senator Nicholas Ugbane representing West, Central and Eastern senatorial districts respectively, solicited the support of the people of the state in the rescheduled election and assured them that the party would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Earlier, the chairman of the party in the state, Chief John Odawn described the rumour of the arrest of the former governor as unfounded and malicious, claiming that the opposition was only trying to use it as diversionary approach from the main issues.
