Oba, Others Commiserate With Alaafin Over Aide’s Death

By Wale Adele - 17.05.2008

Following last week’s gruesome murder of Mr. Saheed Ishola, a palace aide to the Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, many obas and prominent citizens have been thronging the ancient palace to commiserate with the monarch.

Among the early callers were the Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Adedapo; Onisanbo of Ogboro, Oba Samuel Adedokun; Olugbon of Orile –Igbon, Oba Samuel Osunbade; Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Salau Abdul- Ganiyu Adekunjo; Onjo of Okeho, Oba Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha; Eleo of Ilero, Oba Immanuel Afolabi among others.

Oba Adeyemi, while thanking the visitors for their concern, appealed to the people to allow the police to handle the case, saying in a case of murder, the police needed time to do a thorough job to ensure there was no miscarriage of justice.

He expressed surprise that in this age, some people could still believe they could do anything and get away with it without the due process of law.

Oba Adeyemi also debunked the claim that the killing had anything to do with his victory in the court of law that pronounced the “Baale Ago-Oja,” a nullity, illegal and a non exisiting title.
