Mark Wants More Military Men In Politics

The Senate president, Senator David Mark, has called for involvement of more military personnel in politics, saying doing so will afford them the opportunity to bring their experience in governance to bear.

Speaking in Lagos at the launch of a book to mark the 55th birthday of Senator Olrunnimbe Mamora titled, “A Democrat To The Core” the Senate president noted that there was the need for more military men to show interest in politics , as the military as an institution was not bad, though some people would like to paint it otherwise.

He equally urged those that were interested in joining politics to be prepared to subject themselves to public questioning as regards their actions and deeds while holding political office(s).

Speaking about the performance of the Senate under his leadership, he explained that they (Senators) see themselves as representatives of the people, and that their commitment was to discharge their duties to the best interest of the electorate that elected them as party differences never come to bear when it comes to national issues. He added that what matters was discharging their duties to the best interest of the country and the constituency they represent.
