NFL accountant shot dead

NIGERIA football scene was thrown into mourning on Wednesday following the murder of the Nigeria Football League(NFL) board accountant, Mr Abubakar Sheu Garba, by armed robbers in Abuja.

Tribunesports gathered that the late accountant was returning from a bank in Wuse 2 Abuja when he was attacked by armed robbers around 3.00pm along Wuse Zone 4.

According to NFL officials, the Chairman, Chief Oyuki Obaseki and the late accountant had gone to the bank to withdraw money meant to offset the bills of members of the board that would be travelling to Ghana for the Africa Nations Cup beginning on Sunday.

They said that eye witness account informed that the assailants had trailed the late accountant, and demanded for the money he had gone to withdraw from bank. “We were told that they requested for the money from him, which he released to them, but they eventually shot him dead".

Speaking in tears, Obaseki said, "this is very callous, this is very barbaric, they should have collected the money and spared his life." Late Sheu Garba was taken to the Kings Care Hospital, Wuse zone 4,Abuja, where he gave up the ghost.

Following the incident,NFL secretariat in Abuja wore a sad look with staffers mourning the sad development.Though,some of them refused to speak on the incident.
