Police intercept truck load of fake energy drink

Olalekan Olabulo, Lagos - 16.05.2008

The police in Lagos a few days ago saved the nation from what would have been high influx of adulterated energy drink into the market as they intercepted a truck full of fake energy drink with the inscription Power Ox.

The intercepted drink, which looks like the popular Power Horse energy drink, was reportedly hijacked by armed robbers before the police intercepted the container conveying the fake goods.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the adulterated drink might have found its way into the country through Seme border as a Ghanian was arrested in connection with the drink

Nigerian Tribune gathered that some importers had informed the police in the state of their goods truck that was hijacked by suspected robbers, who waylaid the driver of the truck

The acting image maker of the state police command, Maverick Akpoyibo, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, said the timely intervention of the police led to the discovery.

Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the police were after the stolen truck but discovered the unwholesome product which was reportedly taken away by the robbers.
