Iyabo and the senate
NOW that the senate is convinced
that Senator Iyabo Obasanjo Bello’s earlier briefing on the N300 million Ministry of Health scandal misled it into taking sides with her, the honourable path to tread to allow the rule of law take its course is to strip her of all privileges in the senate and go ahead to suspend her until the contrary of what Nigerians currently know is proved.
What Senator Obasanjo-Bello did by running away from the law and rubbishing the court and the judicial process amount to acts inimical to the prestige of a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
She should be brave enough to come out of her hiding, apologise to Nigerians for clothing the senate in the garb of dishonour resign her chairmanship of the senate committee on health and withdraw as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
These acts will save her and her family any further embarrassment and personal odium.
The need to take these actions without further hesitation has become imperative given the facts of the case as contained in the charge papers available in the court.

PHCN, give us light
TO show how
important light is to
the entire mankind, it was written in the first Chapter of the Holy Bible:”in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form... and God said let there be light and there was light and God separate light from darkness...”
Power shortage, erratic supply of electricity and total darkness are some of the attributes of the Nigerian society.
Yidi, Soyele, Cele, AIIi-Giwa, Odejayi areas of Apete; a suburb of the ancient city of Ibadan , has been experiencing total blackout since September last year. This began during the second day of the holy month of Ramadan despite the great reward of this month. The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) made black out the reward for the residents.
This was as a result of the excessive power load on the transformer,but unfortunately the transformer got burnt. Consultations and dialogue with concerned authorities (PHCN, Landlord Association, Iddo Local Government) in order to find lasting solution to the problem proved abortive.
Series of payments were made by the concerned residents; donations, contributions were also made but their aims were not realised.
I am appealing on behalf of residents of Abayomi Soyele Close,Yidi/Arola Road and its environs, to the authorities of Iddo Local Government, Oyo State Government, Federal Ministry of Power and Steel, and President Umaru Yar’Adua to do something about it.
