FG Set To Submit Periodic Report On Child’s Rights

The federal government on Friday in Abuja said it was set to submit its Third and Fourth Periodic Reports on the UN Convention on the implementation of the Rights of the Child (CRC).
Mrs. Ochanya Ebe, the Deputy Director, Child Development Department, Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, said this at the National Child Rights Implementation Committee (NCRIC) meeting.
Ebe noted that Nigeria had submitted and successfully defended the 1st and 2nd periodic reports to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and was in the process of submitting the 3rd and 4th reports.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the 3rd and 4th periodic reports were due to be submitted in May, as requested by the body.
She said that as a signatory to the UN Convention on the rights of the child, Nigeria was expected to submit reports every five years on the progress it had made in the implementation of the recommendations of the convention.
