PDP Needs To Be Restructured - Ogbuewu

One of the contenders for the position of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, has said that his major task, if elected, would be to reform the party.

Ogbuewu said that it had become obvious that the PDP needed to be reformed for it to achieve the task of reengineering the country, since it was the party in power at the federal level and in most of the states and local governments.

Ogbuewu, according to a statement by his campaign organisation on Friday, said that as one of the founding members of the PDP, he was in a position to know its strengths and weaknesses and make amends when elected.

The former Minister of Culture said that with his experience in party politics from the ward to federal level, he stood a good chance of reforming the party to meet the socio-political and economic needs of the country.

He said that having worked in several capacities within the party, he was strategically positioned to give the party the needed changes.

Ogbuewu also said that his chances had been brightened by the fact that he had not been identified as belonging to any faction within the party but rather enjoyed a wide patronage.

He said that he had received support from all the geo-political zones of the country and was the choice candidate.

His campaign organisation said Ogbuewu had visited all the geo-political zones and had been assured of the support of members of the party in all the zones.
