Senate President’s Wife Takes Medicare Campaign To Abia

Over 10,000 Nigeri ans have so far ben efited from the on-going free medical programme sponsored by Voluntary Promotive Intervention (VPI) in collaboration with ASO Savings & Loans.

This disclosure was given by the wife of the Senate President and initiator of Voluntary Promotive Intervention (VPI)/ASO Savings & Loans Dr. (Mrs) Rose -Marie Mark during a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Eze Albert Uwanamode,the Obizi of Ekenobizi Autonomous community, in Umuahia South Local Government of Abia State to flag off the VPI/ASO free medical treatment in the state. According to her the project was borne

out of a desire to complement the efforts of the various levels of government in the health care services delivery . “The overall aim of our campaign is to support the efforts on ground and at the same time draw attention to the poor hygiene that predisposes the less privileged to various kinds of ailments as well as seek ways of partnering with manufacturers of health and hygienic products so as to rescue the poor,” Dr. Mark stated.

Responding, HRH Eze Albert Uwanamode, commended Dr. (Mrs) Mark for considering the less privileged and going a step further by embarking on the extensive tour.

According to the Eze, “Remembering people, going all out to touch the lives of people you have never met simply shows how committed you are to what happens to others.”

While explaining to her host , Dr. (Mrs) Mark said VPI/ASO in its Phase 1 action plan would also cover training of the youths in the area of information technology (IT) and empower them to be self-reliant apart from assisting them with their health needs.

She also stated that 20 of the youths with exceptional aptitude for IT would be chosen for intensive course in IT with specific attention in health data collection.

This, she said, would be used for health screening exercises, while Phase 2 of the programme would concentrate on health screening by volunteer doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and medical scientists.
