Yar’Adua Admonishes Corps Members On Employment

President Umar Yar’Adua has called upon the out gone set of corps members across the country to utilize their compulsory one year national service to shun all negative tendencies in their quest for economic attainment.

The president, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday at the passing out ceremony for the 2007 batch A members of the National Youth Service Corps, admonished the outgone corps members to take advantage of initiatives like the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP), the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) which he said were programmes aimed at poverty alleviation, employment generation, value re-orientation and wealth creation.

Congratulating the 2007 Batch ‘A’ set of corps members on the successful completion of the national service, Yar’Adua, in his address delivered by the state governor, Mr. Segue Oni, said: “The world you are stepping into is one fraught with challenges that will task your physical, mental and economic resources.

“I believe the experience of the past one year must have groomed and prepared you for such challenges. “I admonish you all to shun negative tendencies such as violence, drug addiction, cultism, prostitution, thuggery and armed robbery.

Government is committed to empowering the youths of this nation to enhance their effectiveness, efficiency and relevance.
