TOS Benson To Be Buried Feb. 29
Adewale Ajayi, Lagos - 16.02.2008
Baring any change of
arrangement, the
remains of Chief Theophilus Sobowale Benson (SAN) will be buried on 29th February 2007 in his home town Ikorodu , Lagos State .
A burial arrangement made by his family, according to Chief Babatunde Benson, younger brother to the deceased, and Mrs Abimbola Cardoso, daughter to the deceased, indicates that the remains of the late Benson will be committed to mother earth last day of February.
Family sources, however, informed Saturday Tribune that the arrangement is still tentative.
Abimbola, speaking with Saturday Tribune on Friday, explained that the date chosen was subject to serious debate because it is a leap year, and it may pose a problem to always remember the anniversary of his burial.
Many prominent Nigerians have, however, continued to pay their last respect to the pioneer Minister of Information, Culture and Broadcasting.
Among those that visited his Lagos resident on Friday to commisserate with the family were Chief Olusola Saraki, Ambassador Segun Olusola, Chief Don Etiebet and Justice Muhammed Uwais.
Others were Maj.- General Henry Adefowope (retired ), and Chief Molade Okoya Thomas.
Speaking with Saturday Tribune, Ambassador Olusola said the late Benson lived a fulfilled live, which is a sterling example for others to follow.
