Obafemi Chases Goal No.7

NIGERIAN international, Obafemi Martins will be on duty today for Newcastle in search of another goal celebration against troubled Fulham.

Obagol, with six goals in his kitty, has scored in all his games for the Magpies since December 1 except that of the clash with Arsenal which ended one goal apiece.

The Nigerian striker is two goals short of Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s and three adrift of the joint leading scorers, Arsenal’s Sheyi Adebayor and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perhaps his awe-inspiring form has given manager Sam Allardyce no cause to bother about another Nigerian-born striker in the team, Shola Ameobi who is fighting hard to stage a comeback.

Allardyce gave an indication that Ameobi could start in today’s tie against Fulham just as he ruled out Michael Owen due to the injury he sustained during England’s friendly clash with Austria.
