Don’t campaign for 2011 now, Mark cautions PDP

The Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Thursday, cautioned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are flagging off campaigns for 2011 elections that they risk raking up stiff opposition in the next election.

Mark, who was speaking at a meeting of the North-Central PDP, held in Abuja, said that the party risks a “dwindling fortune if political office holders fails to concentrate on providing good governance and dividends of democracy.”

While addressing delegates to the stakeholders’ meeting, Mark said the PDP could be raking up stiff opposition for itself if it continues to sensitise the opposition to the next election, without a commensurate delivery of dividends of democracy.

“It is not yet time for campaign; we must tell ourselves the truth and concentrate on the job before us. We must not put the cart before the horse,” he said.

Mark, however, said that he was optimistic that the PDP would have no rival in 2011, if political office holders work in tandem with the wishes and aspirations of the people.
