Enahoro moves to end Ogun crisis - Condemns plan to destroy mega party initiative

Elder statesman, Chief Anthony Enahoro, has taken steps to end the lingering political crisis in Ogun State. Enahoro, on Tuesday visited the state governor, Chief Gbenga Daniel, in his Asoludero Court in Sagamu to discuss with him on how best to resolve the matter.

He said at the meeting that he was disturbed by the current political bickerings and their threat to the achievements of the Daniel administration.
According to the octogenarian, it was good governance that would bear the brunt of the political imbroglio.

Speaking with journalists after the two-hour meeting with Daniel, Enahoro, a foremost parliamentarian, who moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence, cautioned the House of Representatives to shelve its planned intervention in the internal affairs of a federating unit like Ogun State so as not to precipitate an avoidable national crisis.

“Nigeria is a federal country and I, therefore, wish to advise the federal house to be cautious in dabbling in the internal affairs of Ogun State.

“This is a very sensitive issue and I want them to find a political solution rather than a legislative solution to the feud. That way, the conflict would not be excerbated,” Chief Enahoro said.

Enahoro also hinted that he would be meeting with principal actors in the crisis shortly and cautioned them to refrain from offensive media statements to allow him use his experience in resolving the crisis.

Meanwhile, Chief Enahoro, who is the convener of the National Political Summit Group (NPSG), has condemned the alleged plan by some people to destroy the initiative of a mega party in the country.

The elder statesman, in an online statement on Tuesday, said as a result of the success so far made, a 30-member steering committee of eminent people across the six geopolitical zones had been set up to organise the proposed political summit.

According to him, the mega platform would be launched at the summit. Enahoro alleged that some people were trying to mislead the public about the leadership and activities of the new movement.

He explained that what the movement stood for now were positive mass action to create a level playing field and mass prosperity.
