PDP Chieftain Charges New Executives

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Chief Lukuman Oyebisi Ilaka, has urged the newly elected National Executives of the party to strengthen internal democracy in the party.
Ilaka, who gave the advice in an interview with the Saturday Tribune, maintained that the restoration of internal democracy in the party would enable members of the party to have confidence in the party.
According to him, the use of the affirmation principle and zoning have continued to affect the psyche of the people, stressing that the only way to improve this is by allowing interested party members to contest for election in a free and fair contest.
Ilaka stated that the prevailing system is not in line with democratic principle and was capable of causing avoidable crisis in the party.
The PDP chief stressed that the new executive should adhere at all times to boost the confidence of members.
