KAI boss vows to arrest council boss over Ojodu clash

Kunle Awosiyan, Lagos - 15.02.2008

the Marshal General of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI)in Lagos State, Captain Danjuma Mageri, has vowed to arrest the chairman of Ojodu Local Government Development Council, Mr. Abiodun Faleke, over the crisis between KAI officials and workers of a bakery in Ogba.

Captain Mageri told the Nigerian Tribune in an interview on Thursday that the crisis might not be resolved unless the council chairman was arrested.

A crisis had erupted between workers of a bakery located at Oke Ira in Ojodu when officials of KAI visited the area to sensitise the residents about the plan of the state government to demolish some shanties to give way for a new plan for the area.

But while carrying out the assignment, Danjuma said workers of the bakery attacked his men with machetes.

He said the KAI officials were locked inside the bakery while trying to inspect the environment, adding that he was only able to locate them through the walky-talky.

“They locked my men inside the bakery and beat them to a coma. We could only locate them with the aid of our walky-talky. When we learnt that they had been held hostage, we reinforced and moved to the area. We found that eight of KAI officials had been seriously wounded and we decided to pursue the hoodlums and got 16 of them arrested,” he said.

Mageri said one of the hoodlums, a policeman and a son of the baker, Corporal Adelabu Olusola, was also arrested and his Identity card seized.
