CCB yet to verify assets of ex-governors

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) said on Monday in Abuja that it was yet to verify assets declared by nine ex-governors that served between 1999 and 2007.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the bureau, in its 2006 annual report, said the ex-governors, whose assets were yet to be verified, included those of Abia, Anambra, Benue, Borno, Cross River and Ebonyi.

The report said others included that of Imo, Nasarawa, and Plateau states. According to bureau, the assets of 27 ex-governors as contained in their asset declaration forms have been verified.

According to the report, the bureau has also verified the asset declaration claims of 26 deputy governors who served within the period under review.

It further said that the bureau was yet to verify the assets of former speakers of Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River and Ebonyi states’ Houses of Assembly.

Other speakers whose assets were yet to be verified by the bureau, the report said, were from Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa and Plateau states.

The report also showed that the bureau had yet to verify asset declaration claims of the chief judges of Sokoto, Plateau, Nasarawa, Katsina, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Benue and Abia states.

The bureau said that asset declarations made by some secretaries to state governments were also yet to be verified. The affected states are Sokoto, Plateau, Nasarawa, Katsina, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Benue and Abia.
