Family support for Chrisantus

14.11.2007

NIGERIA'S Hamburg new signing, Chrisantus Macauley's ten-month amateur contract with Bundeliga side means his family will travel to Germany to live with him.

He will be able to play in the Bundesliga even before he turns professional next year.

"His parents have been fully involved in this deal and it offers him the opportunity to develop from an amateur to a professional,"his agent, Adam Mohammed told BBC Sport.

"His parents and the remaining members of the family will travel with him to Germany because he is still a minor so that they can see him settle in this environment. "When he turns 18 next year things will be much easier for him here in Germany.

"There are other African players like Thimothee Atouba (Cameroun) and Otto Addo (Ghana) who can help him settle down at the club."
