Celtic rivals Portsmouth for Babayaro

SCOTTISH Premier League side, Celtic is eyeing former Newcastle United fullback Celestine Babayaro.

The former Nigerian international is currently trialling with Portsmouth, but is also on Celtic's radar.

The Atlanta '96 Olympics gold medallist was handed a week trials by Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp last week to make a return to the English Premiership after he aparted company with Newcastle.

His bid to join his former manager at Chelsea, Ruud Gullit at American Major League Soccer side, Los Angeles Galaxy, where England international, David Beckham plies his trade, fell through and Babayaro wants to revive his career once again in England.

He started his trial with Portsmouth last Tuesday when the Redknapp side resumes trainning ahead of the new season.
