Globacom premier League Revealed: Why NFA upturned O&D rulings

Facts have emerged
on why the Appeal
Committee of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) upturned the ruling of the Organising and Disciplinary (O&D) Committee of the Nigeria Football League (NFL).
The Appeal Committee of the NFA had last Thursday withdrew boardroom points awarded to some clubs which had protested to the O&D of the NFL.
Points were awarded to various teams with genuine cases in both the Globacom Premier League and the National Division One by the O & D after the committee treated each case.
However, clubs that were unsatisfied with the O&D ruling took their cases to the Appeal Committee of the NFA, seeking redress, which led to the meeting of the committee last week.
After its marathon meeting, held in Abuja, the Appeal Committee upturned virtually all the rulings of the O&D which forced minor changes on the club‘s standing on the log in particular the premier league.
Globacom League Update findings, however, revealed reason why the NFA decided to withdraw all boardroom points even from clubs that had genuine cases.
A top official of the NFA had told Globacom League Update few days to the meeting of the Appeal Committee that the association was unhappy with the award of boardroom points to clubs , suggesting other ways of disciplining erring clubs.
According to the NFA bigwig, the award of boardroom points had in the past rubbished the league arguing that some clubs often depend on this to achieve undeserved victory which always denied the Nigerian league of a worthy champion.
“There should be a way to stop the award of boardroom points to clubs. It is doing our league no good but great harm , that is why I strongly believe that other option should be considered in dealing with clubs that ran foul of any rule,” declared the NFA official.
