Akala distributes cars to legislators

THIRTY members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, including the speaker of the House, Honourable Moruf Olawale Atilola, were on Tuesday, given brand new Toyota Camry 2000 edition each by the state Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.

This latest gesture by Chief Alao-Akala came few weeks after he approved the sum of N10 million each as constituency allowance for each legislator in the House.

At a breakfast meeting, the third in the last one year with the legislators, held at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday, the legislators led by the speaker, Honourable Atilola, were full of joy at the end of the meeting which lasted more than two hours.

Sources at the meeting said two of the legislators, whose elections were nullified by the Appeal Tribunal last week, were not part of the gesture, while the N10 million constituency allowance earlier given to them had been withdrawn.

One of the governor’s aides, who preferred anonymity, said there was nothing wrong in provision of vehicles for the legislators, stating that it was “car loan.”
