The four American nationals and a Nigerian
that were arrested for alleged espionage in one of the creeks in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State last Saturday have been handed over to the State Security Service headquarters in Abuja.
Security sources told the Nigerian Tribune last night that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Azazi Owoye, handed the suspects to the leadership of SSS for further investigations.
The identity of the Nigerian that was arrested along with the Americans was given as Joel Bisina, the National Coordinator of a non-governmental Organisation, Niger Delta Professionals for Development.
Reacting to the arrest, The National Coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group, Mr. Joseph Evah, condemned the arrest describing Joel Bisina as a responsible Ijaw leader.
He said Bisina had attracted widespread development into the Niger Delta through his relationship with foreign governments and international bodies.
