I have no plans to join PDP - Tinubu

Former governor of Lagos State and chieftain of the Action Congress (AC), Chief Bola Tinubu has denied speculations that he plans to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former governor denied the speculation, while addressing the National Executive Committee, Zonal Vice Chairmen,State chairmen and governorship candidates of the AC in Abuja on Thursday.

He also said that he had no plans to accept any political appointment from the PDP.

Tinubu said he could not contemplate joining the PDP because it is a Poverty Development Party”. He also explained that his relationship with the Presidential Candidate of the AC and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is cordial contrary to wide speculations of enmity between the two of them.He said Atiku is his “brother” and that nothing could put the two of them apart.

The former governor, who talked about his relationship with Atiku, said “there is nothing wrong in him and the former Vice President disagreeing on some issues, adding that such disagreement is the hallmark of democracy and that no true democrat will interpret disagreement on issues to mean enmity.

“ We used to disagree with the late General Shehu Yar’Adua but that did not mean that he was not our leader. Those who interpret disagreement on issues to mean enmity do not know what democracy means.”

Tinubu also denounced reports that he was opposed to the former Vice President approaching the Supreme Court to appeal the judgment of the Presidential election petition tribunal.

He said the former Vice President “has every right to go to the Supreme Court to challenge the judgment of the Presidential Election Tribunal.
