Presenting the construction plan to the state governor, the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Jim Ovia, said his organisation was moved by the vision of the Rivers state government for development and zeal to partner with the private sector.
Mr Ovia remarked that his establishment would make the road one of the best, with street lights, telecommunication pipelines, covered culverts among others, and also expressed their readiness to partner in the development of the Greater Port Harcourt City as well as in assisting the state government in providing ICT support for their e-government project as technology now rules the world.
Speaking while receiving the design plan, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, lauded the Bank for being the first to avail themselves of the opportunity to partner with the state government in road construction in the state.
Governor Amaechi said that his administration had concluded negotiations with other development partners, and explained that as soon as the due process aspect of the exercises was completed, the contract for the road would be awarded.
