NCF invites 60 players for Chess Olympiad trials

IN a bid to ensure that the country improves on its performance at the forth coming World Chess Olympiad in Dresden , Germany in November, the Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF) has invited 60 male and female players for two-stage trials of selection.

At the end of a two-day meeting in Lagos, the NCF boss, ACP Sani Mohammed, explained that all the invited players were to report at the National Stadium, Lagos for the first phase of the trial between July 12 and 25 while the second stage will run from August 13 to 17.

“We want the have the best representation in Germany and instead of selection of only top ranked players whose forms are in doubt now it is much better to widened the scope and give more opportunity to other talents to display their prowess in the cerebral game,” ACP Mohammed said.
