Super Falcons jet out to S/Korea - Training tour

NIGERIA’S Super falcons, the sole representatives of Africa in the female football event of the forthcoming Beijing Olympic Games, yesterday left the country for South Korea on a training tour ahead of the Games which kicks off on August 4 in China.

In a telephone chat with Tribunesports, Chief Coach of the team, Joseph Ladipo a.k.a Jossy Lad, said, “we are already at the airport on our way to South Korea for the training tour that was initially postponed due to logistic reason.”

He expressed gratitude to the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) for their efforts at esuring that the team embark on the tour, saying that, “we are grateful to both the NSC and NFA for ensuring that the team got all it required in terms of assistance towards performing well at the Olympics Games.”

He explained further, “when we arrive in South Korea, we are going to spend 21 days during which we are expected to play friendly matches with top female teams in that country before moving to China for the Games proper.”

The former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan sweat merchant then appealed to Nigerians to always remember the Falcons in prayer, promising that the team would not let the soccer-loving Nigerians and Africans down at the Beijing 2008 Games.

“We’re prepared to make Nigerians and indeed Africans pround at the Beijing Olympics,” he said.
