Woman finds dead son in bucket

This woman went out to condole a family friend, only to come back and found her baby dead in a bucket of water in the room.

The men of Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, are trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the four-month-old thebaby, Kehinde Sikiru who was found dead in a bucket of water in her mother’s room.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the mother, Mrs. Fausat Sikiru gave birth to a set of twins four months ago. The twins were christened, Taiwo Sikiru and Kehinde Sikiru.

However, tragedy struck in Sikiru’s house about two Fridays ago, when baby Kehinde was found dead in her mother’s room. .

Explaining how the incident happened, the mother said that she left the twins in her room in custody of her 13-year-old daughter, Raimot, sleeping.

However, by the time she (Fausat) came back in the evening, she was confronted with the story that Kehinde was missing.

The mother immediately asked Raimot to contact their neighbours whether any one of them came to take the baby as they used to do.

Her daughter came back with the report that nobody had seen the baby.The neighbours immediately organised search party for the baby. The poor woman began to stool immediately

Sunday Tribune learnt that she was advised to go to the toilet. As she was about to get little water with a bucket in her room, she saw the lifeless body of her baby in the bucket. She raised alarm.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the people around quickly made effort to revive the baby by taking her to the hospital, but it was late. The doctor confirmed the baby dead. The neighbours reported the matter to the police for investigation.

While lamenting on the tragedy, the mother of the twins said that on the fateful day she had gone to condole with a family friend but was surprised to have met her baby dead when she came back. The daughter of the woman, Raimot explained what she knew about the matter which was not different from what her mother said.

Asked whether she suspected anybody in the matter, the mother of the baby told the police that she did not suspect anybody “We are like one family in this house. We are like brothers and sisters. I do not suspect anybody”.

Speaking on the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Femi Awoyale said that investigations are still going on and that the police will do everything possible to unravel the circumstance behind the act.
