Oyo CAN lauds CP

THE Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter, has lauded the state Commissioner of Police over the role he played in the religious crisis at Igangan Community, which claimed the lives of three ministers of God.

This was contained in a release made available to Sunday Tribune by the state president of the association, Reverend J. O. Akinfenwa, on Saturday.

According to the release, “religious strife is brooding in Oyo State and the way to curtail it is by allowing justice to be done. We have been experiencing religious intolerance in Oyo State for quite a while, but it has not led to killings of innocent souls, so we have been maintaining our peace.”

The release alluded to religious intolerance that happened during a prayer crusade organise on the 15 March, 2008, by Prophet Oladipupo Funmilade Joel, popularly called “Baba Sekunderin” which took place in Eruwa and Ibarapa, which led to the vandalisation of vehicles and windscreens.
