FCT to build more houses - Minister

Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator John James Akpanudoedehe on Saturday disclosed that applicants, who missed out of the just-concluded sales of Federal Government houses in Abuja would soon smile, as the FCTA had concluded plans to build more houses for them in parts of the territory.

Giving the assurance in Abuja while inspecting on-going construction work at the Karshi Satellite Town Infrastructure Project, Senator Akpanudoedehe said, the administration will partner with private organisations, such as, the Union Bank (United Kingdom Group) to build houses in Karshi, which he said would soon enjoy the same level of infrastructure with Abuja.

The Minister, who recently commissioned 201 two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments for staff of the FCT administration and its agencies in Karshi, disclosed that a 27-hectare parcel of land adjoining the Staff Housing Estate, would be dedicated to the building of new apartments in partnership with organised private firms and interested buyers.

He praised the Satellite Towns Development Agency (STDA) for “doing a very fantastic work with contractors who are building infrastructure in Karshi Satellite Town, as well as in Kubwa and Bwari.”

Senator Akpanu-doedehe said that they have shown that those who desire to live in satellite towns rather than Abuja City can enjoy the same level of infrastructure as those in the city.
