Pure water sells for N10 in Lagos

LIFE may become more unbearable for Lagosians as a sachet of pure water which used to sell for N5 now sells for N10 in most parts of the state.

Nigerian Tribune investigation reveals that many retailers decided to increase the price because their suppliers had increased the price of a bag of sachet water by 100 per cent.

One of the pure water retailers, who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune at Iyana Isolo in Lagos, said a bag which was before now sold for between N40 and N50 had been increased to between N80 and N100.

They complained that they did not know why the hike was effected.

The pure water seller, who is media shy, said “we don’t know why they increased the price; we just have to increase ours also in other to break even.

We also need to consider other expenses including the price of ice blocks.”

One of the producers of the commodity, who also spoke with the Nigerian Tribune, attributed the hike to the rise in the price of nylon used for packaging the pure water.
