OYO State governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said that only the Chief Justice of Nigeria can order him to remove the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Isaiah Olakanmi.
Governor Alao-Akala in a release signed by his Special Adviser on Communication, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said he would not obey the directives of the National Judicial Council (NJC), but would obey the directive of the Chief Judge of Nigeria, who is the chairman of the NJC.
Reacting to the call by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to remove Justice Olakanmi based on the advise of the NJC, he maintained that he relied on the letter of the former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Mohammed Uwais (Rtd), to reinstate Justice Olakanmi as the Chief Judge of the state.
