Rivers AC chairman suspended

The national leadership of the Action Congress (AC) has suspended Mr. Mmuen Kpagane as the chairman of the party in Rivers State, replacing him with Elder Godknows Tubonemi, who will function as acting state chairman.

Two letters, signed by Prince Austin Eweka, National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the party and made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Port Harcourt, said the suspension took effect from February 8, 2008.

One of the letters, the one with which he was informed of the party’s decision, stated that Kpagane had been suspended from November 2007 and that his failure to react or respond to an earlier letter of suspension necessitated the confirmation of his suspension and the replacement.

In the letter that notified security agencies of the party’s decision, the acting chairman, Elder Tubonemi and the secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Okis Bob-Manuel, were placed at the elms of the party’s affairs in the state in the interim.

“We wish to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that sequel to the resolution of the state executive committee of the AC, Rivers state, Mr. Mmuen Kpagane has been suspended from office as the Rivers state chairman of the Action Congress (AC) with effect from February 8, 2008.

“He has been replaced with Elder Godknows P.I. Tubonemi until further notice.

“Consequently, with effect from today, February, 2008, until we direct otherwise, the two authorised people that your commission should deal with are Elder Tubonimi, in his capacity as Acting Chairman and Mr. Okis Bob-Manuel, the state secretary of the party”, the letter to security agencies read.
