Rivers seizes Ateke’s property

Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State has said that property belonging to the wanted militant leader, Ateke Tom, whose base was recently destroyed by the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) would be taken over by the Rivers State Government.

Amaechi who disclosed this while speaking at the closing ceremony of this year’s Polo championships in Port Harcourt at the weekend also said that the Evil Forest used by Ateke to commit atrocities would be used in building a health centre that would serve the people of Okrika.

Also speaking at a wedding reception of the son of Chief Godpower Ake, National Vice Chairman of PDP, South-South, Governor Amaechi urged Rivers people to ignore threats by common criminals.

He said the government was on top of the situation and disclosed that security has been adequately beefed up in order to ensure that there is no threat to lives and property as well as peace and security.

To this end, the Governor remarked that more soldiers have been drafted to the state by the Federal Government to secure lives as well as crucial investments.

The State Chief Executive assured that Ateke Tom would be tracked down, arrested and made to pay for his crimes against humanity.
