NSC takes wrestler, Burudu, to Germany
- For treatment
Niyi Alebiosu, Lagos - 12.05.2008
Succour has finally come the way
of Nigerian wrestler, Happiness Burudu as she undertakes Meacham treatment in Germany, courtesy of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Disclosing this in a chat with Tribunesports in Lagos last week was the president of the Nigeria Amateur Wrestling Federation (NAWF), Chief Austin Edeze, who was full of praises for the commission.
According to him, many Nigerian sportsmen and women are not always willing to do anything for the country with all their herats due to the fear of being abandoned in case of injury, but noted that such situation belongs to the past now and assured them that the NSC is willing to perform its responsibilities.
Edeze disclosed that Burudu, who sustained the injury while preparing for the last All Africa Games in Nigeria, might depart the shores of the country this week at the expense of the NSC.
This, he said, would bring hope back to the athletes that if they sustain injury while serving the country, they will not be neglected.
“This gesture should be describe as a domestic insurance for our athletes because NSC is alive to its responsibility and with this, our athletes should endevour to do well for the country and have it at the back of their minds that in cases of any form of injury, the country will be there for them,” Edeze said.
