Plateau govt warns workers

APPARENTLY disturbed by the disruption of work at the state secretariat by some aggrieved workers over the implementation of the 15 per cent salary increase, the Plateau State government has said that it would no longer tolerate excesses of civil servants bent on disrupting the machinery of government.

Some civil servants, last week, disrupted government activities at the state secretariat and chased away some top government officials from their duty posts.

Reacting to the development through a press statement signed by the Director of Press Affairs, Mr. James Mannock, the state government directed civil servants to be at their duty posts and go about their normal duties without any fear of molestation.

The government advised those behind the act not to take the government for granted, adding that it was a responsible and sensitive government.

It added that the administration, in spite of all, remained committed to delivering on its promises to the people of the state, especially in its efforts to uplift the living standard of the rural populace.

On the controversy on the agreement between the labour and the government, the release said the government had since accepted the implementation of the agreed table of payment for civil servants based on the terms negotiated with labour.
